Dear Parents,

Endings, like beginnings, can be very exciting. As the school year terminates, we are faced with new tomorrows. Vacation is a time for renewal. The break in our regular routine is refreshing and offers many opportunities, to learn something new, to start a new hobby, to be of service to others in a special way, to visit faraway places (in books if not in actuality).

Vacation is also a time to reflect, a time to look at the past and plan for the future. You can help your children make this vacation a very fruitful one as you guide them in recognizing true values in their past experiences and setting standards to use as they plan future activities.

“Take time to smell the flowers” is a phrase that indicates our need to appreciate and be aware of the beauty around us. To understand and appreciate God’s world and His people, we need to pen our hearts to the beauty and diversity that surrounds us each moment of the day.

All too soon this vacation will be a thing of the past. Now can be the time to plan your vacation memories.
