Rainbows is an international grief support program for children who have lost someone they love through death, divorce or abandonment. Rainbows has been at St. Francis Xavier School for the past 12 years and will return again this year. Death, divorce and abandonment cause so many conflicting emotions for children. Rainbows provides a safe, nurturing environment for children to express those emotions. Children in Rainbows meet once weekly for about 17 weeks, in small groups with a trained Rainbows facilitator. The meetings take place for 35 minutes before school. There is no fee for the children involved; however children who do sign up for Rainbows are asked to make a firm commitment to attend all meetings. Mrs. Kondrat and Mrs. Chrisom will be speaking to all the students in grades 1-8 about Rainbows during the month of October. Each student will receive a letter to bring home. If you feel that your child might be interested in Rainbows, please fill out the paperwork and have your child return it to school.
